We build strong PEOPLE

strong FAMILIES and strong COMMUNITIES

Established in 1850 the YMCA of South Australia is one of Australia's oldest and most respected community organisations. As a community based organisation, we work collaboratively with government, non-profit groups and partners to provide a range of programs and services to build strong people, strong families and strong communities.  Attracting more than 450,000 participants each year we provide services to the community from over 15 locations across the state. The YMCA of South Australia is a not for profit organisation governed by an elected Board of Directors who in partnership with the Chief Executive Officer establish strategic directions, but delegate operation control through a professional management team.

2008 YOUTH PARLIAMENT

Now in its fourteenth year, Youth Parliament is open to young people aged 16 - 25 years from across the state, facilitated by the YMCA of SA and funded by the State Government through the Office for Youth.

"Youth Parliament operates exactly like State Parliament, with members formally debating bills in the South Australian Parliamentary chambers.  It's a serious undertaking but members also have a lot of fun and learn plenty of new skills in the process"

Training of the 120 new recruits will be conducted during August by a Volunteer Taskforce comprised of 16 past participants.  The training, taking place in Adelaide, will prepare the recruits for their parliamentary debut by educating them on the parliamentary process and developing their relationships, team-work, leadership and public speaking skills.
