Every child at YMCA Strathalbyn ELC follows a program designed around them. Our educators observe what each child is curious about, what they are ready to learn next, and how they connect with the world around them. From there, they plan experiences that build on those interests and support each child's growth.

Our program is guided by the Early Years Learning Framework and grounded in play-based learning. But what makes it distinctive is where it happens: a natural setting backed by open paddocks and farmland, in a community where educators know every child and family by name.

Your child's interests lead the way

Our educators plan around what your child is curious about, not a fixed timetable. Learning follows their questions, discoveries and emerging skills.

Nature is part of every day

Paddocks, farm animals and open space are part of every day. The outdoor environment is where much of the best learning happens.

Educators who know your child

Small groups and consistent educators mean every child is noticed every day. We know their favourite book, their best friend, and how they're really going.

Our rooms

Babies, Toddlers and Kindy. Each room is set up for where your child is right now, but the real story is what doesn't change. The same small team of educators, the same community of families, the same paddocks just outside the window. Consistency is part of the program.

Bluebells

The Bluebells room is built around trust and individual rhythms. Your baby sleeps, feeds and explores on their own schedule, not a centre timetable. Educators follow your lead on routines from home and keep you across everything at pickup.

Years

Gumnuts

Gumnuts are figuring out the world and themselves at the same time. The room is set up for hands-on discovery, messy play and early friendships. Plenty of time outside each day to run, climb and get curious about what grows in the garden.

Years

Wattle

Wattle is where your child's ideas start to take shape. Educators build on their curiosity with projects, books, early numbers and letters, and the social skills they'll carry into school. Play stays at the heart of how they learn.

Connected with nature and the outdoors

Our outdoor space is something no purpose-built centre can replicate. Children climb, build, garden, and investigate in a natural setting with views across the paddocks. They watch the farm animals, track the seasons, and develop a genuine respect for the environment they are part of.

Nature play is not a scheduled activity here. It is woven through the whole day.

A day at Strathalbyn ELC

Children arrive to a calm, welcoming start. Mornings open with free play and small group experiences, shaped by what educators noticed the day before. Through the day, children move between indoor and outdoor spaces, following their interests with educators beside them.

Group experiences build social skills, language and creativity. Quiet time respects each child's need for rest. And there's always time outside, because some of the best learning happens when children have space to explore, take small risks, and discover things for themselves.

Monday to Friday, 6:30am to 6:30pm.
