1:1 Swimming Lessons are designed to provide children and adults living with a disability, or other barrier preventing group swimming lesson participation, the opportunity to learn water safety and basic swimming skills.

The Program

1:1 Swimming Lessons are designed to work towards an agreed suitable progression – whether that be joining group lessons or gaining the confidence to swim independently indoors or at the beach.

Nationally accredited Teachers tailor lesson plans to suit individual needs and goals, including a focus on:

Develop water safety and other skills such as turn taking and following instructions.

*1:2 lessons are available to accommodate a sibling or friend which either share the same progression goal or help the participant t achieve their progression.

Fees and the NDIS

Activities such as swimming lessons are unlikely to be covered by the NDIS. For more information talk to your LAC, Support Coordinator or Plan Manager to confirm suitability and whether you may be able to claim the additional cost of one to one support. 1:1 Swimming Lessons are paid via fortnightly direct debit and a statement of fees paid is available upon request.

Program Terms

  • Payments: Fees are paid via ongoing fortnightly direct debit by credit card or bank account details.
  • Cancellation: 14 days written notice of cancellation is required (one more direct debit will be charged once notice is provided).
  • Suspensions: Participants are entitled to 8 lesson suspensions (missed classes) per calendar year with 24 hour written (email) notice provided. Full fees are charged for notice under 24 hours. “Make-up lessons” are not available. No fee medical suspensions are available with a accompanying medical certificate.
  • Summer break & Public Holidays: Lessons automatically suspend at no cost during the holiday break (2 weeks at The Parks, Fleurieu Aquatic and Purruna and 4 weeks at other centres). No lessons are held on public holidays (the week is skipped).

Enrolment Requests & Questions

Enrolment requests are reviewed by the sites Swim Lesson Coordinator, who will be in touch within 3 business days to discuss pool and instructor availability and answer any questions you may have.
