#YWeAreHere

The Y will always support young people, and to remind everybody of this, we’re excited to launch the next video in our #YWeAreHere campaign featuring some of our own Y young people.

“Lately, we’ve seen young people respond to crises with compassion and creativity,” said National CEO of the Y in Australia Melinda Crole.

"Young people continue to provide solutions that can ensure our post pandemic recovery. Our focus on ensuring the voice of young people reaches decision makers and transforms into true intergenerational leadership for this country, is key,”

“Young people continue to raise their voices until they are heard. Young people continue to step up and show true leadership.”

“At the Y, young people have been leaders in embracing and developing online content to connect, engage and support one another during the COVID-19 crisis, this includes on platforms such as WeAreHere, WhyNot, Y Chats and Virtual Y.

“Feedback has been that these opportunities to connect have been a lifeline for many of our young people during this challenging time.”

Ms Crole said that thanks to pro-bono support from a partner media agency, over $225,000 worth of free advertising was donated to the Y by Channel 10, Channel 7 and a number of major daily newspapers in South Australia, Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland, Hobart and the Northern Territory.
