Seed Fund
This part of the Impact Fund is focussed on innovating YMCA services or processes in ways that address under-served needs, especially where we can help others “grow in body, mind and spirit” (i.e. their physical and mental health, safety, accessibility, learning, social connection, and their sense of value, dignity, and purpose). In addition to lifting social impact, this can also extend to environmental initiatives.
As the name suggests, it’s about designing and trialling new ideas in a small, low-risk way. If, despite our best efforts, they don’t work out, that’s OK (so long as we learn from the experience). If they do show real promise, we can develop and expand them further over time.
Your proposed innovation could be in the form of a new program, product or service; a new or improved process or experience; a new income stream; adoption of a new method or technology; or finding efficiencies that reduce cost, errors, waste, carbon emissions, or water usage.
In awarding grants, the Selection Panel will consider factors such as:
- the quality of thought you and your team have put into the proposal
- alignment with the YMCA’s mission, strategy and values
- attractiveness to our communities and stakeholders
- its feasibility, viability, and potential scalability.
If you have an opportunity that meets these criteria you might consider forming a team and applying for a small grant from the Seed Fund (of $5,000 or more). It’s expected that you’ll talk through your idea with your manager first. Thereafter, if you need any further advice, or need help in developing your proposal, please contact Andrew Mundy (Chief Operations Officer) on 0409 724 962 or impact@ymcasa.org.au.
