YMCA South Australia joins SEA

YMCA South Australia (the Y) has joined The Sports Environment Alliance (SEA) as its newest member.

The Y’s Chief Operations Officer, Andrew Mundy said that the SEA provides an important vehicle for like-minded organisations to share ideas and resources, and to encourage environmental responsibility.

“At the Y we believe that conservation and environmental responsibility are integral to our mission for all people to grow in body, mind and spirit. The Y believes that we should all commit and take action to protect and regenerate our planet,” he said.

“It is important that the sport industry has collective leadership in this space.”

The Y has implemented a number of energy, water and waste-saving initiatives, and solar electricity installations across its facilities. The Y’s aim is to clearly articulate its sustainability objectives and targets and how they will work to achieve them.

SEA Consultant CEO, Katherine O’Regan, stated that SEA is ready to build a strong relationship with the Y and help it achieve its environmental sustainability goals.

“The YMCA is such a pillar of the sport and recreation community and we look forward to assisting the organisation in becoming an environmental leader in the industry”, she said.
