Port Lincoln families now benefit from Free Under 10 Memberships at the Y

YMCA South Australia and the City of Port Lincoln are pleased to announce that families in the Port Lincoln region now have access to a community-first initiative: free memberships for children under 10 at the Port Lincoln Leisure Centre.

This local launch brings Port Lincoln in alignment with other YMCA South Australia-managed recreation and aquatic centres across the state, extending the reach and impact of a program that’s been removing barriers to family participation since 2019.

Creating value for families

The Free U10 Membership initiative was designed to make family recreation more accessible, adding unique value to adult memberships, while helping to foster lifelong healthy habits. Available to children under 10 who reside with an eligible All Access adult member (including concession and Mates Rates), the membership offers children the same access they would receive through casual visits to pools and stadiums, completely free of charge.

From splash time in the pool, to stadium fun with BYO sports equipment, the initiative encourages families to move, play and connect together without the pressure of additional fees.

As a community organisation, YMCA South Australia is focused on creating happier, healthier communities, that is supported and encouraged by the City of Port Lincoln; Free U10 Memberships reflect that mission in action.

“This isn’t just about swimming or sport,” says Anna Ryan, Centre Manager at Port Lincoln Leisure Centre. “It’s about removing barriers, supporting active families, and helping children build confidence and connection through play. We’re thrilled to now offer this opportunity to our Port Lincoln community.”

The model leverages existing infrastructure to deliver maximum impact with minimal cost, making it a win-win for families and community partners alike. Importantly, the increased value to members also supports member retention, facility usage, and future engagement with YMCA programs like swimming lessons, holiday camps and birthday parties.

By bringing Port Lincoln into full alignment with metro centre offerings, YMCA SA ensures local families have access to the same benefits and opportunities as those in Adelaide and beyond.
