Participation in gymnastics and memberships booming across YMCA SA sites.

Two years ago State Sports Park (SSP) was an empty concrete shell. This year, membership grew almost 30% in its first full year of full operation, helping drive the whole YMCA Gymnastics network to over 2,300 members, up close to 9%, and attendances across our four sites, State Sports Park, Glengowrie, O’Sullivan Beach and Seaford, just shy of 100,000 for the year.

Behind those numbers is community. Every site offers a pathway from a toddler’s first Kindergym class through to competition-level gymnastics, giving families a place to belong well beyond the training floor.

“Passing 1,000 members at State Sports Park is a moment worth pausing on,” said Haydn Bellamy, YMCA South Australia’s Recreation Development Manager. “In 2024, this was just a metal frame with no floor. Getting here has taken a lot of people backing the vision, our coaches, our families, and a community that decided this was worth showing up for.”

The results speak for themselves. At the Gymnastics SA 2025 Annual Awards, State Sports Park took out both Large Club of the Year and the overall Club of the Year. Across the four centres, the coaching team has grown from 40 to 60 in the same period. With ongoing program equipment and staff investment, YMCA is looking forward to future growth and a lasting impact on the communities we serve. 

With minimal waiting lists across the YMCA Gymnastics network, we strive to provide every opportunity to grow our programs within safe, fun and positive environments.

2026 and beyond, we look forward to identifying new opportunities and communities we can have a lasting impact and continuing to be South Australia’s largest gymnastics provider, an investor in our people and our facilities.
