Technology Solutions Engineer (Automation, Data & AI)

Department: Corporate Services

Type: Full-time

Posted: 3 November 2026

Closes: 25 November 2026

THE ROLE

We’re looking for a technology generalist who can build. You’ll join our small technology team at our Adelaide head office, reporting to the IT Manager, and take business problems from the first conversation through to a working system. A lot of that work is connecting our core systems and automating the manual steps between them - much of it in NexusY, our new data environment on Google Cloud.

We build mostly with AI coding agents such as Claude Code, so we want someone who already works that way. You’ll still need enough Python and SQL to read what the tools produce, check it and fix it. The split is roughly 40% build and 35% shared IT operations (identity and access, Microsoft 365, escalations, weighted to your background). The other 25% is working with teams across the organisation on new requests and ideas. There are no direct reports, and you’ll have the authority to run delegated work end to end.

What we use:

  • BigQuery and SQL, Airbyte, Dagster, Cube and Evidence.dev

  • Claude Code and other AI coding tools, with Git, code review, testing and CI/CD

  • Microsoft 365 and Entra ID, plus Perfect Gym, Tanda, Xplor and SAP

You won’t need experience with every one of these, as long as you’re comfortable learning new tools quickly.

What you’ll do:

  • Connect business systems to the data platform and to each other

  • Automate manual processes, including AI-enabled workflows, with privacy and data governance built in

  • Assess new software requests for risk, privacy and fit with our other systems

  • Take your share of day to day IT with the rest of the team

  • Keep people informed and help them get comfortable with what you’ve built

The data platform is new, so you’ll help shape how it’s built and run. For the first 12 months you’ll work alongside senior engineers from our delivery partner, which is a good way to learn quickly. Your work will also reach most parts of the organisation, from aquatic centres to early learning.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Our ideal candidate will have the following skills/experience:

  • You build working solutions with AI coding agents, and understand the code well enough to review and correct it

  • You use AI tools every day and have food judgement about using them safely

  • Solid IT fundamentals, enough to share day to day operations

  • You can sit down with a Centre Manager, work out what they need and explain the options in plain English

  • Sound judgement on risk, privacy and data

Experience with Google Cloud, a data warehouse, Entra ID integration, or a multi-site or not-for-profit organisation would help. A degree isn't required. We're more interested in what you've built.
