Job description
THE ROLE
YMCA South Australia is seeking a Senior Management Accountant to support our Head of Finance in driving strong financial management across the organisation.
In this role, you'll take responsibility for the complete month-end and year-end reporting cycle, lead our offshore finance team (AP, AR, and Payroll), and ensure our financial controls and compliance obligations remain robust. You'll deliver high-quality management reporting and analysis while driving continuous improvement across our financial systems and processes.
This role suits a qualified accountant who enjoys working both independently and collaboratively and wants to apply their skills in a purpose-driven not-for-profit that delivers meaningful community impact.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead month-end and year-end reporting, including management reports (P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow) and detailed variance analysis
- Maintain strong financial controls and statutory compliance (e.g., GST, PAYG, Superannuation)
- Support audits, cashflow forecasting, and financial governance practices
- Oversee AP/AR/Payroll processing via an offshore finance team and initiating payments
- Support grants and funding acquittals and strengthening compliance reporting
- Drive continuous improvement and system/process efficiencies across the finance team
REQUIREMENTS FOR THE Y
Successful candidates will also have, or be willing to obtain:
- Tertiary qualification in accounting, finance, or commerce (Bachelor's degree or higher)
- Certified Practising Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA) designation
- Minimum 5 years' experience in management accounting or financial accounting roles
- Strong working knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and statutory compliance requirements
- Advanced Excel capability and advanced proficiency in accounting software systems (e.g., SAP or similar ERP systems)
- Strong written and communication skills with the ability to present financial information clearly to a range of stakeholders
