Job description
YMCA South Australia is looking for a skilled, passionate Physiotherapist to join our dynamic Allied Health team, delivering high quality, patient-centred care. A part-time opportunity (approximately 22 hours a week but hours are negotiable) is available for a Physiotherapist, based primarily at The Parks Recreation & Sports Centre, commencing January or February 2026. The successful applicant will be joining a supportive, dedicated and experienced team who are committed to helping clients move, feel and function at their best.
THE ROLE
The role of the YMCA Physiotherapist is to design and deliver tailored physiotherapy programs for clients, based on thorough assessment and evidence-based practice, towards reaching functional outcomes.
We are searching for a Physiotherapist with excellent communication skills, some industry experience, a passion for working with people of all ages towards achieving their health goals, and enthusiasm for working within a vibrant team. Some experience in musculoskeletal physiotherapy and pelvic/ women’s health physiotherapy is highly desirable.
The ability to work well within a multidisciplinary team to optimise client and community health outcomes is essential. Proven effectiveness in liaising with referrers, colleagues, stakeholders, clients and their families to deliver exceptional physiotherapy services and develop health promotion programs is highly regarded. Presenting clients are predominantly musculoskeletal conditions (including sports injuries, orthopaedic and occupational health conditions), but may vary to include some neurological, cardiovascular, women’s health and paediatric conditions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Individual assessments and treatment planning based on sound clinical reasoning
- Follow up rehabilitation consultations to maximise functional outcomes (including ‘hands on’ therapy modalities where appropriate)
- Exercise prescription and progression, including home exercise, gym, hydrotherapy and return to sport/work programs
- Patient education, including self-management strategies and workload management
- Injury prevention (screening) and performance enhancement program delivery
- Health education and promotion workshops
A part-time position is available for this role, with the opportunity to develop unique physiotherapy services within gym and hydrotherapy environments. Professional development and mentoring support are provided through on the job training as well as our tailored learning and development program.
REQUIREMENTS FOR THE Y
Successful candidates will have, or be willing to obtain:
- Relevant Tertiary Qualification in Physiotherapy
- Registration as a Physiotherapist with APHRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency)
- National Police Check (issued in the last 6 months)
- DHS Working With Children Check
- International Criminal History Record Check (if worked/lived overseas in the last 5 years)
- HLTAID009 Provide CPR
- HLTAID011 Provide First Aid
Highly desirable experience and attributes:
- Experience in communicating effectively with clients and within a multi-disciplinary team
- Experience in conducting client assessments and providing evidence-based treatment for a variety of conditions such as musculoskeletal and sporting injuries, orthopaedic, occupational health, pelvic/ women’s health and neurological conditions.
- Experience with electronic client management system, such as Cliniko, is desirable
- Demonstrates empathy and cultural awareness
- Excellent time management and organisational skills
