THE ROLE

Join our passionate team at Whyalla Recreation Centre as a Duty Manager and play a key leadership role in one of the region’s most important community hubs. As a central facility for sport, recreation and aquatic programs in Whyalla, our centre is a place where locals connect, stay active and build healthier lifestyles, and you’ll be right at the heart of it.

As a Duty Manager, you will act as the senior on-site representative during rostered shifts, leading and supporting teams across aquatic and recreation areas while overseeing the smooth day-to-day running of the centre. This is a fantastic opportunity to strengthen your operational expertise while developing practical leadership skills in a supportive and community-focused environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and supervise staff to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient daily operations.
  • Actively monitor aquatic areas and ensure aquatic ratios are in adherence to the Guidelines for Safe Pool Operations.
  • Coordinate lifeguard rotations, conduct pool and facility checks, and respond to incidents and emergencies in line with procedures.
  • Deliver excellent customer service, resolving enquiries and concerns in a professional manner.
  • Open and close the facility, complete reporting, cash handling, and general administration tasks.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for all patrons and staff.

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE Y

Successful candidates will also have, or be willing to obtain:

  • Pool Lifeguard Certificate
  • SISSS00131 Aquatic Technical Operator (essential)
  • Certificate of completion for “Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect – Education and Care” Training
  • (HLTAID011) Provide First Aid or equivalent Certificate
  • (HLTAID009) Provide CPR or equivalent Certificate
  • Good communication and leadership skills

Pool Lifeguard Certificate: in Port Augusta on the 14th and 15th March 2026.

Aquatic Technical Operator Course: in Adelaide on the 18th and 19th March 2026.
