YMCA South Australia recognised as Outstanding Organisation at The Power of Her Awards
YMCA South Australia has been named Outstanding Organisation at the 2026 The Power of Her Awards, recognising its impact in advancing women and girls in sport and physical activity across the state.
The award celebrates organisations that remove barriers to participation, strengthen leadership pathways and create inclusive sporting environments. In the last year, YMCA SA delivered 2.1 million sport and recreation participations, with more than half of members identifying as female.
Across 16 recreation facilities in metropolitan and regional South Australia, the Y has introduced practical initiatives including women-only swim sessions staffed by female lifeguards, female-led programs, social competitions, child-minding services and the provision of period products in recreation centres.
YMCA SA’s commitment to gender equity is also reflected in its workforce. With approximately 1,250 staff, 76% of whom are women, and 70% female managers, the organisation demonstrates strong female representation in leadership.
Serving metropolitan and regional communities in South Australia, YMCA SA continues to expand access to quality sport and recreation opportunities. This recognition reflects YMCA SA’s belief in building a just, inclusive community where every person can thrive in body, mind and spirit, and where women and girls feel empowered to participate and lead.
