YMCA hosts Autism Friendly swim event
YMCA South Australia is excited to announce the launch of its new Autism Swim Program.
The community focused not-for-profit is the first Autism Swim accredited organisation to provide swimming lessons for people who have a disability in South Australia.
YMCA South Australia, Chief Executive Officer, Haydn Robins, said he was thrilled that the YMCA had committed to train staff to deliver the much needed program.
“We believe this decision will have a truly positive impact for those in the community living with a disability,” he said.
The Autism Swim program is designed to help support people with a disability to achieve their goals, while encouraging them to try new things and engage with their communities.
Mr. Robins said that the program had already attracted significant attention across the community and staff engagement had been excellent.
“The YMCA promotes active participation that is inclusive for all people in health and fitness across South Australia. Our passionate staff teams have a ‘can do’ attitude that conquers any barrier to participation. We adapt our environment, not our people,” Mr. Robins said.
YMCA South Australia is a registered NDIS provider. All YMCA services are NDIS friendly and can be included in NDIS activity plans.
