THE ROLE
Duty Managers at Thebarton Aquatic Centre play a key leadership role in the safe, smooth and professional operation of the facility. You will lead and support on-shift teams, oversee day-to-day operations, and help create a positive, inclusive and safe environment for both staff and patrons.
Acting as the senior on-site representative during rostered shifts, you will ensure aquatic spaces are actively supervised in line with YMCA SA values and regulatory requirements. From time to time, you may also step into lifeguard duties when required, supporting seamless centre operations and maintaining the highest standards of safety and customer experience.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and supervise staff to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient daily operations.
- Actively monitor aquatic areas and ensure aquatic ratios are in adherence to the Guidelines for Safe Pool Operations.
- Coordinate lifeguard rotations, conduct pool and facility checks, and respond to incidents and emergencies in line with procedures.
- Deliver excellent customer service, resolving enquiries and concerns in a professional manner.
- Open and close the facility, complete reporting, cash handling, and general administration tasks.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for all patrons and staff.
Availabilities may include:
Mornings (5 a.m.), Nights (4 p.m.- 9.30 p.m.), Weekends (6.30 a.m.- 4 p.m.)
REQUIREMENTS FOR THE Y
Successful candidates will also have, or be willing to obtain:
- Pool Lifeguard Certificate
- SISSS00131 Aquatic Technical Operator (essential)
- Certificate of completion for “Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect – Education and Care” Training
- (HLTAID011) Provide First Aid or equivalent Certificate
- (HLTAID009) Provide CPR or equivalent Certificate
- Ability to make timely, informed decisions during incidents or peak periods
