We deliver programs and services across the state in settings including community recreation centres, swimming pools, health and fitness facilities, camps, early education and schools and youth services.

THE ROLE

We are seeking highly motivated, passionate and professional people to form part of our staff team at Strathalbyn Community Swimming pool for the 2019/2020 season. Positions are available in the following roles :

  • Lifeguards
  • Duty Managers
  • Swimming Instructors
  • Group fitness instructors

The above roles ensure the safety of all our patrons and successful candidates are expected to provide high levels of customer service, be highly motivated and have attention to detail.

COMMITMENT TO SAFEGUARDING CHILDREN

YMCA, including our Boards of Directors, is committed to the safety and wellbeing of children and young people in accordance with our Safeguarding Children and Young People framework.

YMCA requires that all applicants undergo satisfactory screening prior to commencement, including but not limited to:

  • a national criminal history check;
  • an international criminal history check where applicants have worked overseas;
  • holding or obtaining a DCSI child related employment clearance or equivalent in accordance with state or territory laws, if directed by YMCA South Australia; and
  • two reference checks.

Any successfully appointed applicant will be required to adhere to the Safeguarding Children and Young People framework, which includes a thorough safeguarding children and young people induction and committing to upholding the safety and wellbeing of children and young people throughout their engagement with YMCA.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Successful candidates will also have, or be willing to obtain:

Group Fitness Instructor

  • Cert III in Fitness or Group Exercise Leader (GEL) accreditation
  • (HLTAID001) Perform CPR or equivalent
  • Les Mills Instructor Certificate and / or Instructor Certificate for specific program (Pilates, Boxing, Exercise to Music)
  • Certificate of completion for “Responding to Abuse and Neglect” (RAN) training

Swimming Instructor

  • AUSTSWIM Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety, or Swim Australia accreditation
  • HLTAID001 Perform CPR or equivalent
  • Relevant Department for Communities and Social Inclusion (DCSI) Employment Screening Check(s) / Working With Children Check (prior to commencement)
  • Certificate of completion for “Responding to Abuse and Neglect” (RAN) training

Lifeguard

  • Pool Lifeguard Certificate Skill Set
  • HLTAID003 Provide First Aid or equivalent
  • HLTAID001 Perform CPR or equivalent
  • Certificate of completion for “Responding to Abuse and Neglect” (RAN) training
  • Pool Operator’s Certificate (desirable)

Duty Manager

  • Pool Lifeguard Certificate Skill Set
  • HLTAID003 Provide First Aid or equivalent
  • HLTAID001 Perform CPR or equivalent
  • Certificate of completion for “Responding to Abuse and Neglect” (RAN) training
  • Pool Operator’s Certificate
